Minocher Rustom Masani was born on 20 November 1905 to a Parsi family with an outspoken journalist and writer father, Mr. Rustom Masani. He was brought up in Bombay. He went on to train himself to become a lawyer at various institutions like Elphinstone College in Bombay, and the prestigious London School of Economics. He became a member of the Lincoln’s Inn, one of the four lawyer’s associations in London. He came back to India in 1928 to practice law at the Bombay Bar but gave up soon to take part in the freedom struggle. While in London, he came in contact with an influential left leaning Professor Harold Laski who taught and influenced many prominent future leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru, V K Krishna Menon and Annie Besant.
