Nani Palkhivala

Nanabhoy "Nani" Ardeshir Palkhivala was born in 1920 in Bombay. He was one of India's most eminent jurist and an expert economist. His knowledge on matters related to the constitution and tax matters was unparalleled. Palkhivala's biggest success came in the form of his contribution to the famous Kesavananda Bharati vs. The State of Kerala case, that ensured that the basic structure of the Indian constitution is not altered by the legislature.

Palkhivala is also famous for his budget commentary that came almost every year from late 1950s to early 1990s following the presentation of budget by the Finance Minister in the parliament. His incisive commentary and great communication skills drew tens of thousands of people to listen to him on matter as technical as budget commentary.
