The Forum of Free Enterprise was a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A.D Shroff and was established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum published booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled, “Public opinion on private and state enterprises ” was published in 1962 and was a version of collective letters focusing on the dangers of monopoly and consumer exploitation. During the 1960s, the fanaticism of nationalism and state enterprises had blocked the value and importance of freedom, private enterprise, and individual choices. This edition, therefore, covered the aspects of the bad functioning of the state enterprises as perceived by the daily commuters and consumers.
