The Forum of Free Enterprise is a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A. D. Shroff, and has been established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum publishes booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled “Economic Reforms in India: Where are We and Where Do We Go?” was published on October 10, 2006 and was authored by Dr. Rakesh Mohan. Dr. Mohan describes the economic situation in the country for the past 50 odd years, discussing the increase in entrepreneurship that has emerged following economic reforms. He then talks of several key issues that need to be redressed as the country moves forward, including the deceleration in agriculture, and issues related to human resource development. He proposes that public management systems must become competent, innovative and efficient to keep up with the private sector and effectively aid in the sustained growth of the economy.
