The Forum of Free Enterprise is a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A. D. Shroff and was established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum publishes booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled, “Modern Policing For A Modern India” was published on June 5, 2009 and was authored by Maja Daruwala and Julio F. Riberio. The first article by Mrs. Maja Daruwala is based on a talk delivered under the auspices of Forum of Free Enterprise in which she talks about modern policing for a modern India which further includes the issue of police reforms, colonial rule, and resistance from the bureaucracy. She also made an important point that we require the support of the citizens to carry our demands forward. The second article by Julio Ribeiro dicusess the attack of 26/11 and how everyone in the country got together. The article discusses the important aspect of police reform, that being, the operational independence of the leadership and the separation of the Investigation Part from the Law and Order part.
