The Forum of Free Enterprise is a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A. D. Shroff has been established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum publishes booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled ‘Internationalisation of Indian Business- Role of Financial Institutions’ is a book form of a lecture delivered by Mr R.C. Shah on the auspices of the A.D Shroff Memorial Trust in Bombay. The booklet was published on 28th June 1983.
Mr Shah dwells briefly on the international dimension of Indian business, twelve years old joint venture of Indian technology and Indian banks abroad. To accelerate joint ventures growth, he recommends allowing commercial viability, product adaption to cater for the need of the host country, having a brand name to compete in the international market, flexibility and better management of joint ventures. He also supports the need for increasing exports to strengthen India’s position in the international market and the role of a financial institution like EXIM Bank in managing Indian Banks overseas.
