The Forum of Free Enterprise is a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A. D. Shroff, and has been established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum publishes booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled ‘A Survey of Socialism Today’ is authored by A.D. Shroff, Murarji Vaidya, Professor C.L. Gheewala and published in 1961. A.D. Shroff explores the concepts of planning, free enterprise, in his essay ‘Socialist Planning vs Planning for free enterprise and prosperity’.  He highlights issues like totalitarian planning in heavy industry, monolithic administrative apparatus, coordination problems, and suggests measures for realistic planning. In his essay ‘State enterprises and Democracy’, Murarji Vaidya illustrates why the word ‘public sector’ is a misleading word in India. Prof. C.L. Gheevala  criticizes the contradictory ideas that socialism promotes in his essay ‘Is Socialism outdated?’. He advocates for independent private enterprise to check on the activities of the State.
