The Forum of Free Enterprise is a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A. D. Shroff, and has been established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum publishes booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled ‘Regional cooperation in South Asia’ is authored by H.T. Parekh and published in 1981. The author stresses on the need to develop relations with our immediate neighbours. He highlights the significance of these countries and suggests that India must be willing to give more than receive. He states that the treaty with Nepal can serve as a model for our relations with other countries. He recommends initiating the process of normalization under communication and tourism, social and cultural exchanges, trade, industry, and finance. He feels that the common culture of South Asia can be a unifying factor. He advocated the formation of a council that would promote South Asian goals.
