The Forum of Free Enterprise is a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A. D. Shroff, and has been established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum publishes booklets to further its objects. The following booklet is titled “A Package Plan for Inflation” is a compilation of the public lectures converted to text delivered by Dr. R. C. Cooper, Dhirajlal Maganlal, Minoo R. Shroff and Prof. Gangadhar Gadgil. Dr Cooper in his address talked about “Some Practical Measures” on policy matters and suggestions on new policy. Next, Dhirajlal Maganlal in his “Planning Policies are Defective” has through observational evidence held the second five year plan as the originator of inflationary pressures on the Indian economy. He suggests the shutting down of deficit financing, boosting of production and other suggestions as a plan to fight against inflation. Next two speakers, Minoo R. Shroff and Prof. Gadgil too amplify the call for increase in production in their “Increase Production to Curb Inflation” and “Measures to Control Inflation” as a first plan to fight against inflation, but their analyses are different and have something new for the reader.
