The Forum of Free Enterprise is a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A. D. Shroff has been established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum publishes booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled ‘A Policy Framework for Broadbasing the Capital Market’ is a book form of a lecture delivered by Mr James S Raj, an economist on the auspices of the A.D Shroff Memorial Trust in Bombay. The booklet was published on 17th February 1978.
The booklet illustrates the policy framework covering the consumption and savings for the production of goods and services by the public and PSUs and also gives necessary recommendations for revising these frameworks. The distrust in the market mechanism, price control policy, the growth of public sector units after nationalisation and subscription of the public in PSUs, industrial and monetary policies, the demand and supply constraints in the capital market, the need for stability in the value of the currency to improve the returns on equity shares can boost economic democracy.
