The Forum of Free Enterprise is a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A. D. Shroff, and has been established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum publishes booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled “Economic Reforms and The Relevance of Prof. B R Shenoy” was published on June 8, 2007 and is the textual reproduction of the Professor B R Shenoy Birth Centenary Memorial Lecture delivered by Mrs. Kishori Udeshi. Mrs. Udeshi talks of the various contributions of Prof. Shenoy in the field of both economic policy making and academic thought. Prof Shenoy was very critical of and accurately predicted the various flaws and failures of the Nehruvian model of economic planning. Mrs. Udeshi discusses various issues that prevailed in her time and compares it with Prof. Shenoy’s economic policy prescriptions from the early 1950s, portraying their continued relevance.
