The Forum of Free Enterprise was a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A.D Shroff and was established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum published booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled, “Efficient Planning in a Democratic Society” was published in 1965 and was authored by F.A Mehta. The author provided a study between co-operation and conflict in regards to the rapid economic development in political democracies. He further illustrated the areas of under-developed and developing countries in terms of ideological means. He highlighted the role of governments in effectuating the growth of the economy. He also emphasized that the entire run for economic growth sooner or later evolutes to national conflicts and tensions for democratic stability. Lastly, Mr. Mehta focused on the contributions made by individuals and private groups to bring about success in the growth rate. And lastly, stressed upon the usage of a system that ensures efficient use of capital, maximization of assets through the respect of rule of law.
