The Forum of Free Enterprise is a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A. D. Shroff has been established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum publishes booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled ‘General Insurance After Nationalisation’ is a book form of a lecture delivered by Mr G.V. Kapadia a former Chairman of General Insurance Corporation of India on the auspices of the A.D Shroff Memorial Trust in Bombay. The booklet was published on 29 April 1979.
Mr Kapadia in this lecture illustrates the measures taken by the General Insurance Corporation of India after the nationalisation of the General Insurance Industry for settlement of claims, improving quality of service and taking a beginning notch to provide insurance for the rural community. He also interprets the challenges faced by the Insurance Company like the psychology of the public to secure insurance protection, risk management and analysing the hazardous factors involved in determining the premium rates.
