The Forum of Free Enterprise is a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A. D. Shroff, and has been established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum publishes booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled “Life After Liberalisation” was published on January 15, 1992 and is the textual reproduction of the 26th A D Shroff Memorial Lecture given by Dr. Ashok S Ganguly. Dr. Ganguly talks about the potential impact of the 1991 liberalisation policies and opening up of the Indian economy. He refers to similar situations of unexpected developments in other countries, but has to resort to speculation for India’s unique case. He outlines India’s various strengths, weaknesses and vulnerabilities and how it will influence the post-liberalization era. He tries to situate these developments within a global perspective.
