The following booklet titled “Prosperity Through Free Economy- A Case Study of Taiwan” was published on November 9, 1964, and was authored by K.V. Narain. The booklet describes agricultural and industrial reforms that boosted Taiwan’s economy in the 1950s. Under the agriculture sector, the author describes the land reform program, which resulted in the privatization of land and contributed to a private industrial enterprise. On the Industrial front, the author explains the country’s growing industrial production and specifically highlights the development of the textile industry, which became the country’s second-largest foreign exchange earner by the 1960s.
