The following booklet titled “Role of Private Enterprise: Some Unjustified Charges” by Thakorelal M. Desai highlights the manner in which private enterprises have unjustly been the victim of sustained and unjustified attacks by politicians and common people. While recounting the charges made by the then Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Mr. T.T. Krishnamachari, the author cited Mr. Tata while stating that the commercial environment has not been conducive enough for private enterprises to flourish. The author further lists the various industries including grinding wheels, ship-building and chemicals where the private sector has significantly contributed. This was reflected by accounts of the Planning Commission itself which stated in its report that investment and expansion in the private sector has reached 100% capacity. The author condones the formation of the Forum of Free Enterprises as a response to unfair attacks to educate the public on the fundamental rights of free enterprise.
