The Forum of Free Enterprise is a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A. D. Shroff, and has been established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum publishes booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled “Barons of Banking – Glimpses of Indian Banking History: Reflections by Experts” was published on February 3, 2014. This booklet contains three articles which are textual reproductions of the remarks made by several experts at the launch of the book ‘Barons of Banking’ by Bakhtiar Dadabhoy. The first article is of the remarks made by Dr. Y V Reddy, who calls this book ‘unique’ in the manner in which it covers aspects of public sector, private sector and participation of individuals in shaping policies and institutions. The second article covers Mr. S S Tarapore reflections. He states that this book is a model for how banking history ought to be written. The last speaker covered in this booklet is Mr. Y H Malegam, who talked about the six barons who are the subject of the book.
