The Forum of Free Enterprise is a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A. D Shroff, and has been established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum publishes booklets to further its objects. The following booklet is titled “A Total War on Indian Poverty” written by Eric P. W. da Costa. The text aims at providing somewhat a reinstatement of economic philosophy which has been forgotten. He also examines the ideas of the political leaders of the congress party before and after independence and discusses the influence of the socialist pattern on the congress party leaders. He also tries to examine the reason, “why, particularly with the deep commitment to our people made in the Socialist Pattern of Society by the Congress Party, so little has been done.” He too discusses the issue with poverty and adherence of compassion. He proposes to adopt the Gandhian ideas instead.
