The Forum of Free Enterprise is a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A.D Shroff and was established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum publishes booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled, “Customer: Raison Detre of Business ” was published in 2013 and was authored by Anand Sinha. The booklet was published in order to provide additional knowledge to the stakeholders of the Indian banking sector and to the bank depositors. The author highlighted the importance of regulation for ensuring effective consumer service. He articulated issues in reliance to Know Your Customer (KYC) norms and also outlined the efforts taken in regards to their simplification. The author focused on various aspects of the Indian banking scenario of the late 2010s in pursuance of customer service. Lastly, the author concluded that education and empowerment of customers is the right way for providing them with proper services and products.
