The Forum of Free Enterprise is a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A. D. Shroff, and has been established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum publishes booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled “Free Enterprise in India” was published on January 1, 1970 and was authored by the founder, A D Shroff, himself. This article has been reproduced from The Times of India, dated 30th March 1956. Mr. Shroff delineates the problems associated with the sociological leaning of the ruling party and its implications for policy making. The author suggests that the private sector mobilise and organise an awareness campaign to allow the general public to realize the issues with a centralized government in control of the economy, and the need for a greater role for the private sector.
