The Forum of Free Enterprise was a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A.D Shroff and was established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum published booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled, “Growthmanship Fact or Fallacy” was published in 1965 and was authored by Colin Clark. There has been no conclusive theory established for economic development is what most economists have argued so far. For promoting economic growth, there exists no standard formula besides encouraging individual initiative and enterprise. The author agreed on these stands and emphasized the development of the economy to be proportional to the political and economic system existent in the required country. He provided examples of the nations that witnessed a rise in productivity to the attributes that supported the growth. And lastly concluded that government intervention and regulation can slow down the development and reduce the commercial practicability of the sectors.
