The Forum of Free Enterprise is a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A. D. Shroff has been established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum publishes booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled ‘Indian Banking In International Perspective’ is a book form of a lecture delivered by Dr Y. V. Reddy on the auspices of the A.D Shroff Memorial Trust in Bombay. The booklet was published on 31st October 2002.
In this booklet, Dr Reddy summarised the previous A. D Shroff Annual lectures by the prominent personality in the banking system which included mainly qualitative issues, of assets, of service, of profitability, of supervision, of attitudes to work, of professionalism and transparency. He further elaborates the demand for an international perspective on Indian banking and asserts that the competition is global; concerns relating to banking are global, and the standards, as well as codes governing the financial sector, are becoming universal. The booklet affirms the need for having a sound banking system and effective macroeconomic policy for the overall global financial stability.
