The Forum of Free Enterprise is a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A. D. Shroff, and has been established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum publishes booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled ‘On Rising Prices and Black Money’ is authored by Dr. A.K. Sur and Professor B.R. Shenoy and published in 1971. The authors explain the concept of inflation, its causes, and its impact on under developing countries and labour. Dr. A.K. Sur evaluated the causes and growth of inflation in India starting from World War II. He traces how events like the Postwar period, Partition, Korean War, India-China War, and emergency affected inflationary levels in the country. He blames official policy like nationalisation of commercial banks, budgetary plans  for inflation. Professor B.R. Shenoy discusses the concept of black money, its causes, its impact of economy and honest taxpayers. He argues that demonetisation is not an effective remedy for black money. He proposes floating currency, removal of regulations, abolition of foreign exchange control, and raising the ceiling of taxable income, etc. He further explores the position of black money in India’s balance of payment account.
