The Forum of Free Enterprise was a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A.D Shroff and was established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum published booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled, “Private Enterprise and Politics” was published on June 8, 1962. It contains the textual reproductions of the talks delivered at a symposium organised by the Forum on the role of private enterprise in politics in the context of the 1962 elections. The main speakers were Mr. Lalchand Harichand, Mr. Frank Moraes, Dr. A R Wadia MP, with Mr. A D Shroff presiding. They propose a greater, and a more autonomous role for the private sector in the public sphere, including advising on economic policy. It is also adviced to step up and resist unnecessary and ill-informed government intervention in the economy.
