The Forum of Free Enterprise is a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A. D. Shroff has been established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum publishes booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled ‘Problem and Prospects of Developing Countries’ is a book form of a lecture delivered by Mr S Jagannathan a former Governor of Reserve Bank of India in Madras on 30th of October 1980.
The booklet runs through the economic growth of oil and non-oil developing countries. In the case of India, the reduction in imports since 1969 and increase in exports by 1979 and implementation of policies for fixing currency value have been benefitting. Furthermore, he suggests the need for liberalisation of trade to faster productivity.
