The Forum of Free Enterprise is a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A. D. Shroff and was established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum publishes booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled, “Social Entrepreneurship” was published on April 4, 2009 and is based on the Twentieth Bhogilal Leherchand Memorial Lecture delivered in Mumbai on December 15, 2008. In this booklet, the author brings out an essential distinction between a social entrepreneur and a business entrepreneur and highlights the contributions of many giants in this field liek Dr. Verghese Kurien, Founder of Amul Dairy Project, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, founder of the Grameen Bank and father of micro credit, as well as many others from Indai and abroad coming from different walks of life. The author is excited about the ideas of today’s youth and is extremely passionate about their beliefs and concludes the booklet with the example of Dhruv Lakra’s Mirakle Couriers.
