The Forum of Free Enterprise is a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A. D. Shroff, and has been established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum publishes booklets to further its objects. The following booklet is titled “The Climate Change – Issues and Challenges” was published in June 2019 and was authored by Dr. S.D. Naik. The author has provided an excellent perspective on multiple aspects of this complex subject. The text reflects at considerable length on two major international events, namely 1) the Paris agreement of December 2015, 2) the Katowice Consensus of 2018, based on the UN Climate Conference held in Poland. The author observes that India with its diverse agro-climatic settings is one of the most vulnerable countries and provides a suggestion there is a need to foster the process of climatic adaptation in agriculture, which involves reshaping responses, both micro as well as macro-level decision-making culture.
