The Forum of Free Enterprise is a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A.D Shroff and was established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum publishes booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled, “The Oil Crisis in India” was published in 1974 and was authored by Prof. Guruprasad Murthy and F.P Antia. The article titled, “Oil Crisis- The way out,” focused on the prevalent oil crisis that was occurring in the 1970s. The author further highlighted the shift needed to modify the energy policies to curb the growing problem then and identified the areas for instigating new policies. The article titled, “The oil crisis and road transport,” emphasized the judicious approach towards policies of regulated consumption than rises in prices through excise duties. And lastly accentuated on the rationalization of consumption of petrol and diesel through development policies.
