The Forum of Free Enterprise is a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A.D Shroff and was established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum publishes booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled, “The dangers of joint co-operative farming,” was published in 1950 and was authored by M.R. Masani. The author firstly explained the concept of collective farming of the Soviet-Chinese model as being a glorification for dictatorship out of shackles of the peasantry. The author contrasted the Nagpur programme to the Soviet-Chinese model and highlighted the construction of policies belonging to the same model of collective farming. He further emphasized the prospects of collective farming as the means for reducing employment. Mr. Masani highlighted the Gandhian approach of establishing rural industries as the means of creating more employment in the countryside. Lastly, he pointed out the developments of the government as manifestations of the destruction of public morality and against the concept of a free society.
