The Forum of Free Enterprise is a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A. D. Shroff, and has been established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum publishes booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled ‘Will 10-point programme lead to socialism?’ is authored by Professor C.N. Vakil and published in 1967. The author examines the individual tenets of the programme like social control of banking, extension of cooperatives, etc. He criticizes the blind adherence to socialism and vague economic thinking of the government. He further points out the discrepancies in Monopolies and  Restrictive Trade practice Bill and the Industrial policy after independence, factors causing inefficiency in public sectors and cooperatives. With the example of motor cars, the article demonstrates how heavy-duty on imports has decreased the quality of locally produced goods and discouraged exports. He advocates for increased industrial and agricultural production, discipline, and coherent economic thinking.
