The Forum of Free Enterprise is a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A. D. Shroff, and has been established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum publishes booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled ‘Free Market Economy- Key to economic progress and freedoms’ is authored by M.A. Rangoonwaala and published in 1982. The author highlights that though the world has come closer, the restrictions on business continue. He argues that economic freedom is the measure of all freedoms and criticises the arbitrary government plans.He then compares the free market and socialist methods by drawing up the benefits and flaws along with the third method known as the comprising way. He elaborates the drawbacks of government interventions by citing examples from African continent. He states that controls multiply affecting the economy and developing countries need to focus on entrepreneurial pursuits within.
