The Forum of Free Enterprise is a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A. D. Shroff has been established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum publishes booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled ‘Commercial Banks In India After Nationalisation’ is a book form of a lecture delivered by B.N. Adarkar, a former Governor of Reserve Bank of India on the auspices of the A.D Shroff Memorial Trust in Bombay. The booklet was published on 26th May 1971 

The booklet briefs about the performance of commercial and public banks after nationalisation. It signifies that the banks must be evaluated based on their returns and not merely based on social objectives. As profits are important for the banks to absorb some percentage of unavoidable losses. The booklet mentions credit expansions, mobilisation of deposits and providing financial aids to neglected sections. The booklet lays recommendations like enabling banks to deal with different circumstances with a flexible approach, extracting accountability from Boards of directors in case of faulty management or bad outcomes and training for the staff for the efficient management of nationalised banks.
