The Forum of Free Enterprise is a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A.D Shroff and was established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum publishes booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled, “Myths that keep people hungry” was published in 1968 and was authored by Prof. Milton Friedman. The author laid out his own personal experience in finding the beauty in the progress of a nation through organized economic activity and private sectors. He emphasized these measures for the further progress of a nation. Mr. Friedman provided examples of nations that witnessed a surge in economic growth through such measures. He further focused on the Indian context and the socialist idiocracy that the government followed. And lastly stressed the intellectual policies as the responsible factor is harnessing a climate of progressive change in nations around.
