The fortnightly journal titled Indian Libertarian was founded in 1954 by Indian liberal, Ranchhoddas Bhuvan Lotwala, and edited by his daughter Kusum R Lotwala. The first May’57 edition was published amid the time when India was contravening her own declared policy of non-intervention and non-alignment and was in a need of being revolutionized. M.A. Venkata in the article titled, “Land Reform-True and False” highlighted the then-present policy of land reforms, and construed the right way of building a free economy and free society was relating property to function. “P.S.P.” A Boneless Wonder” emphasized the socialist party’s communal stands.  A viewpoint on “Libertarian Society” by James Keilty had him educe the concept of society conceptualized on libertarianism and its correspondence to reality. Sumant S. Bankeshwar in “In Defence of Israel” highlighted India’s national interests to be cultivated to counter the weight of communism and Islamic menace. In, “American Arming of Pakistan,” analyzed the motives behind why the U.S.A. had decided to arm Pakistan. Dr. K. N. Kini. in “Revolutionising Indian Life.” explained how people needed to outgrow primitive conception of religious tendencies in order to foster progress.  Several op-eds from famous newspapers on the much needed democratic stand hold for our nation were covered. The issue further captured important news headlines that covered both nation and worldly stands. It concluded with book reviews that highlighted the libertarian challenges for Asia.
