The fortnightly journal titled Indian Libertarian was founded in 1954 by Indian liberal, Ranchhoddas Bhuvan Lotwala, and edited by his daughter Kusum R Lotwala. The second September ’63 edition was published amid the time of rising in the fascist trends in the trading sector. M.A Venkata Rao in, “Democracy and constitutional amendments,” highlighted the three amendments to the Constitution thereby derogating the stands of courts of law in regards to the land reforms. M.N Tholal in, “Bolstering Non-Alignment,” emphasized the failure of non-alignment policy that put India on a disputed course with both Eastern and Western blocs back then. Prof. G.N Lawande in, “The Problem Of Unemployment,” focused on the aggravated rise in the problem of unemployment due to the various state policies back then. J.M Lobo Prabhu in, “A new tax structure,” hoped that the Parliament would compel the Government to propose and adopt a new tax structure that would not place any limits on the development rebate. The article titled, “Sri Masani’s Devastating Attack On Governmental Controls And Planning,” focused on a speech made in the recourse to the no-confidence debate in Lok Sabha and included many aspects like the decreased value of the rupee in regards to economic difficulties faced then. The edition also covered op-eds that orated the various scenarios in India then. The issue further captured important news headlines covering both national and worldly stands. Lastly, it concluded with a book review on the book titled, “Why we behave like Americans.”
