The Forum of Free Enterprise was a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A.D Shroff and was established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum published booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled, “Transport in our developing economy” was published in 1962 and was authored by Dr. F.P Antia. The author focused on the importance of transportation in alliance with industrialization. He highlighted various instances in regards to the transport service existing in India and contrasted it to transport facilities in various other countries. Mr. Antia emphasized the shortage of facilities in the transport area due to various policies. He also examined the transport structure under the third year plan and construed its shortcomings due to the lack of resources. And lastly called attention to the need for modernization and extending the road system through the allocation of foreign exchange in a purposeful manner for transport structure.
