The Forum of Free Enterprise was a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A. D. Shroff and was established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum published booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled “Value Of Accountants To Modern Enterprise” was published on June 10, 1963 and was authored by P. L. Tandon. The author discusses the rapid changes in the Indian Economy and the responsibilities of management of Indian enterprises. Then he sheds some light on the importance of accountants as they ease the day-to-day routine accounting. To illustrate the practical application of management accounting, the author describes the main features of the system in the firm with which he’s associated. At the end, the author suggests that the qualities of management, leadership and imagination are much more important than professional skill and praises the accountants for their contribution in the progress of the country.
