The Forum of Free Enterprise is a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A.D Shroff and was established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum publishes booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled, “The cult of State Capitalism in India ” was published in 1970 and was authored by C.H Bhabha. The author emphasized the various economic doctrines that perpetrated their way into the existing order of the Indian economy by posing different alternatives to substantiate progress. He further stressed the population’s aspiration for welcoming a new method for economic welfare. The author highlighted the existing scenario in the shift in the role of the State towards the way business was being conducted and the potential harm that the economic state was enduring. Lastly, the author illustrated the danger of political autocracy and hoped for the establishment of proper safeguards for saving India’s economy.
