The Forum of Free Enterprise was a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A.D Shroff and was established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum published booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled ‘Controls in a Planned Economy’ is authored by A.D. Shroff and published in 1960. The author demonstrates how controls and regulations are hampering our economy. He talks about lopsided restrictions in the private sector due to Companies Act, Industrial Act, and unnecessary forms. He explains how controls of capital negatively impacts the economy and how it is used by people in authorities in their favour. He highlights how the Government creates new money without increasing production capacity which leads to rising prices. He elaborates how the Reserve Bank of India engages in monetary control. He suggests that mobilising public opinion against these economic practices is the only way to solve the issue.
