The following booklet titled “Free Enterprise – The Key To Prosperity (The West German Example)” authored by S.M. Dahanukar commences by highlighting the exuberant spirit reflected by India’s business and industry ventures, who in spite of obstacles managed to establish themselves even before independence and provide capital for India’s socio-educational institutions. Post Independence, with the government’s objective of boosting economic development has ensured that private enterprises continue exceeding their investment and expansion targets, even amidst obstacles such as capital and labour restrictions, scarcity of resources, among other factors. The author further draws an analogy with West Germany which has experienced rapid economic growth to become one of the leading financial capitals of Europe. The driver of such growth would be the wheels of economic liberation driven through private incentives. As initial chaos receded, individual initiatives of enterprise gathered momentum which the author believes should be adopted in India as well. The ‘German Economic Miracle’ with its economic policies based on freedom and individual development are the needs of the hour.
