The following booklet titled “Spirit Of Free Enterprise” authored by Russi Mody commences by highlighting the necessity of a free system of enterprise. While political sloganeering led to the formulation of states built on the foundations of equitable distribution of wealth to be ensured through a political process, the spirit of free enterprise prevailed. This is exemplified by the fact that countries which have broken the shackles of economic control of government have “leapt forward” in the words of the author. Thus, the author condemns the pitiable situation of the Indian economy, where a ‘frugal’ government has extended its realm of authority towards controlling each aspect of the economy. 

The author thus highlights that the economic progress of a nation can be assured not solely by large enterprises, but also by smaller enterprises. The author further elaborates on the systemic mismanagement of the public sector whose ill fortunes can only be undone through freeing the economy. While governmental regulation is necessary in the realms of law and order and national defence, the author views it wholly unnecessary for governmental interference in the realms of airlines and the overall economy., which requires a voice of stand by entrepreneurs against the excessive authority of the government.
