The Forum of Free Enterprise is a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A.D Shroff and was established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum publishes booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled, “The Food Situation and The Common Man” was published on January 1, 1970, and was authored by Prof B R Shenoy. Prof. Shenoy examines the food situation in India within the government controlled framework that dominates the economy. His analysis is divided into five broad sections, which include an examination of the nature of the problem at hand, the possible causes for the situation, the remedies proposed by the government, the feasibility of these remedies and there adequacy in tackling the root causes and finally, his own proposals for what should be done to tackle the situation.
