The Forum of Free Enterprise was a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A.D Shroff and was established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum published booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled, “The problem of rising prices” was published in 1963 and was authored by G.D Somani.  The author focused on the problem of rising prices in the 60s and the impact of indirect taxation on consumer goods. He further combined various excerpts from statements issued by the organizations in different sectors on the faulty planning adopted by the government then and the problems following it thereafter. The booklet further listed down two essential reads namely, “Inflation & Society by Graham Hutton” and “Inflation – Causes and consequences by Milton Friedman,” on the subject matter of rising prices for people who were interested in knowing more.
