The Forum of Free Enterprise is a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A. D. Shroff, and has been established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum publishes booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled ‘A New Economic Policy for India’ is authored by Murarji J. Vaidya and published in 1967. The author evaluates the first three plans by highlighting its achievements and deficiencies.He criticises wastage of public funds, the practice of food zones, and gheraos and bandhs. He recommends developing agriculture fully before focusing on industries, abolition of food zones, resources-based planning, reorientation of our economic policies and planning, and adoption of indicative planning strategy.
