The Forum of Free Enterprise is a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A. D. Shroff has been established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum publishes booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled ‘Financial Sector Reforms: The Unfinished Agenda’ is a book form of a lecture delivered by M Narasimhan on the auspices of the A.D Shroff Memorial Trust in Bombay. The booklet was published on 6th December 1993.
The booklet illustrates the downfall/scam of the insurance industry due to internal factors and external environments such as policies and funds allocation. Mr Narasimhan recommends the financial sector reform in areas of internal organisation and management of banks, the regulatory mechanisms and structural aspects of credit and monetary policies. He also affirms the need for adequate autonomy and flexibility of operations for the bank and insurance industry.
