The following booklet titled, “Fresh Thinking On Planning & Prices” was published on June 14, 1977. This text contains excerpts from the two key documents penned down by economists, academicians and scholars, which provided significant insights into what measures can be taken to control the rising inflation in India. The first document, the ‘People’s Plan II’ was presented by the Indian Renaissance Institute. This section of the booklet focuses on the objectives which guided the ideas captured in the document, such as Distributive Justice, Elimination of poverty, Generating Employment Opportunities, etc. The document also provides guidelines to aid the process of planning. The second document, ‘FULLMANGAL’ (Five per cent Upper Linear Limit on Money’s Annual Growth rate As per Law) was presented by Prof. C. N. Vakil and Prof. P. R. Brahmananda. This section of the booklet explores the summary of the ‘FULLMANGAL’ document and draws attention to the short-term plan of Action outlined in the document to halt and reverse the rising trend in prices.
