The following booklet titled “Foreign Institutional Investors in India” was published in November 1994, and was authored by G.R. Parrikar and R.G. Katoti. In the context of the budget 1992-93, which encouraged foreign investors to invest in the Indian capital market and the encouraging response by FIIs in 1993-94, the authors in this text evaluate the different aspects pertaining to the status and growth of Foreign Institutional Investments in India. The evaluation is done in parts by first analysing the Global FIIs Scenario, after that highlighting the principal features of India’s policy framework, and finally examining some critical issues and outlooks for FIIs in India.
