The Forum of Free Enterprise was a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A. D. Shroff and was established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum published booklets to further its objects. The following book titled, “Enlist Co-Operation Of Private Enterprise ” was published on August 7, 1959 adn was authored by Sir. B. Rama Rau. In this booklet, the author deals objectively with the importance of an effective democratic party in a Parliamentary system of Government. The author analyses some recent economic and political developments, which caused concern among supporters of the Congress. He further talks about a “socialist pattern of society and the Beveridge Plan for a Welfare State” in which he quotes from the Beveridge Report. He then specified freedom of worship, speech, writing, study and teaching; Freedom of assembly and association for political and other purposes, including a peaceful change of the governing authority; Freedom in the choice of occupation; and freedom in the management of personal income. The author then talks about “Himalayan Blunders” and the confidence of the people in Gandhi, “Panchshila” and at the end suggests that Mr. Nehru can make a contribution to world peace.
