The following booklet titled “Inflation in India 1964-1974” was published in January 1975. The booklet is a collection of writings on the dilemma of rising prices in the Indian Economy. It comprises individual publications of economists such as A.S. Bhaskar, Prof. C.N. Vakil, M.R. Pai, K. Jayaram, and many more. The chapters in the book provide an in-depth understanding of the history of inflation in India along with various problems associated with it in the Indian context. Some of the topics related to inflation in the book are deficit financing, demonetization, state control, and nationalization. While explaining the natural meaning of inflation, the authors highlight its causes and impact concerning the Indian state of affairs. It brings to attention the Government’s actions that resulted in soaring prices and its failure to take care of such policies’ harmful effects. Further, the chapters also propose remedies such as an increase in the investment of the agricultural sector, consolidation of public investment, sanction for deficit financing that might liberate the Indian Economy from this perpetuating plight.
