The Forum of Free Enterprise is a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A. D. Shroff has been established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum publishes booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled ‘Mutual Funds And Offshore Funds In India’ is a book form of a lecture delivered by Mr S. A. Dave on the auspices of the A.D Shroff Memorial Trust in Bombay. The booklet was published on 19th March 1991.
The booklet illustrates the laudable execution of Mutual Fund in organising small household savings as an instrument of good investment by delivering safety, yield and liquidity to its investors which contributes as capital to industries. Moving towards offshore funds, the booklet explains the role of foreign investment in most Asian and Latin American countries taking major steps to liberalise their economies and encourage foreign flows on commercial considerations. Lastly, Mr Dave guides the policy reforms like encouraging private entrepreneurship and managerial autonomy required for mutual funds to become the ‘trust’ of companies.
